Telegram hits 400 million monthly users and is adding secure group video calls this year

Telegram, A Messaging app is planning to develop a group video calling feature later this year, From Company’s latest announcement. Company says that current options offer either usability or security, but that its version will offer both. Also Telegram had announced it had reached 400 million active users per month and which is double from last two years.

Company said that the current group video calling service provides either security or usability and currently zoom flashes privacy and security issues. Some critics said that current end-to-end encryption is false and default privacy settings made it easy during video calls for uninvited users. Telegram also faced this type of criticism from the security community because end-to-end encryption during video call is not enabled by default

Telegram also stated that they hit 400 million users in a year after reaching 300 million users and the user base doubled since 2018, when it had 200 million active users.  Telegram said that every day 1.5 million new users sign up and it becomes the most downloaded social media app in around 20 countries but still the user base is still less compared to WhatsApp, which is around 2 billion users as per Feb 2020 this year

Apart from monthly active user announcements, Telegram also listed new features launched by them. Users can add educational snippets to quizzes, New directory of 20,000 stickers available on Telegram and these features also added to macOS clients.
