WhatsApp Payments Live In India, Check Steps To Enable Feature On App

RECENTLY WHATSAPP HAS ROLLED OUT WHATSAPP PAYMENTS FEATURE TO TAKE ON THE LEADING APPS IN INDIA INCLUDING GOOGLEPAY, PHONEPAY, PAYTM AND OTHERS

Key Highlights 

  • After waiting of two years finally WhatsApp Payments has been launched in India 
  • WhatsApp has made partnership with Five leading banks including Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, SBI and JIO Payment Bank 
  • Till now WhatsApp has rolled out feature in Brazil and India but this feature will be available in UK, Mexico, Spain and Europe in the Future

WhatsApp Payments has been launched in India after waiting for two years as Facebook, Parent company of WhatsApp introduced payment features in India 2018 but it took almost 2 years to get approval from National Payment Corporation Of India (NPCI).

This will be direct competition with other payment service providers like GooglePay, PhonePay, Paytm and other apps.

“We’ve been working on this with the National Payments Corporation of India, who oversee everything to make sure it’s secure and reliable. And we’ve built it using India’s Unified Payments Interface, which makes it easy for anyone to instantly accept payments across different apps — and for companies to provide people with great services,”

Facebook CEO and co-founder Mark Zuckerberg had said about the launch.

By introducing UPI, It gives great opportunities to MSMEs business which are the backbone of indian economy and India is the first country to do this and Mark Zuckerberg also said that we will make good efforts and work together to help achieve more towards Digital India and Thank you all our partners who have made this possible.

After releasing this feature by WhatsApp, Some users in India had not received it after updating Android and iOS phones.

There are some special tricks by which you can enable payments features on your phone if you haven’t received an update on your phone yet. 

Checkout Steps To Enable The Feature 

Step -1 :- If you have not received WhatsApp Payments Features after updating the app, You can ask someone who has received this Payment feature enabled.

Step 2 :- You can request users to send “Payment Notification” In your chat. You can find Payment option in chat sharing

Step 3 :- Once you receive Payment notification from the contact. WhatsApp will ask you to set up Payment account

Step 4 :- Once you will click on “Setup” option, It will be able to create Payment account on WhatsApp.

First WhatsApp has rolled out this feature in Brazil and India and it will be available in some other countries like the UK, Spain, Mexico and Europe.

WhatsApp has made partnerships with some leading banks like ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI and Jio Payments to enable UPI Payments.
